Some wrong behavior under Chinese Windows 2000

Post by Guest »

OS: Windows 2000 SP4 Traditional Chinese Version
Codepage: 950

File Panel:
Version: 1.52-2.5b11
When I entered a directory like "c:\功能"(ANSI Code: A5 5C AF E0)
and leaved it, I expected that I would get the directory is "c:\"
But it seems Salamander dividing the path with "\"
So, I got "C:\?", a nonexisting directory.

Maybe you can use the GetFullPathName or CharPrev to avoid the problem.
(I think there will be the same problem under other Far-east Windows)

Internal Viewer:
Version: 2.0 to 2.5b11
When I copy a chinese word to clipboard, and paste into other application
ex. the article:
"伊朗已開始小規模濃縮鈾活動 2006/02/14 18:53"
I selected the text in the article, and copy to here. It appeared
"伊朗已開始小規模濃縮鈾活動 2006/02/14 18:53楫杮" and tried again
"伊朗已開始小規模濃縮鈾活動 2006/02/14 18:53垳튼몪岹䂿姁䂧纷䎡਍澳侬䂤"
It was copied too much bytes to clipboard.

I think it maybe use the count of ANSI bytes to copy UNICODE words
It won't work under the DBCS environment, because there are existing two bytes mapping to one unicode word.

sorry for my poor English[/b]

Yes, I know that it doesn't support unicode yet.

I tried again, and take a look in the clipboard
it have four formats:
CF_LOCALE 0x0409
CF_OEMTEXT
CF_TEXT
CF_UNICODE

First, I think the content of CF_LOCALE should be 0x0404, which means Traditional Chinese Locale
the content of CF_TEXT has correct bytes and size
the content of CF_UNICODE has almost double the size than it should be

So I paste into the mozilla, it give me too more bytes because the mozilla fetch the content of CF_UNICODE

Salamander unfortunately also doesn't support multi-byte character sets well :-(

We must rewrite Servant Salamander to include Unicode support.
It is already on ALTAP Roadmap - Unicode support, UTF-8,16,32 (names in panel, viewers, find, convert, compare).

Unicode support for File Comparator (UCS-2) will be included in version 2.5.
Unicode support for Internal Viewer (UTF-8, 16, 32) is planned for version 3.0.
Unicode support for names in panels (UTF-16) is planned for version 3.5+.

Two small useful tools for Unicode development:

Multilingual Text Generator - STRGEN
The purpose of this application is to generate multi-lingual strings to be used in globalization testing. It can produce Unicode text consisting of symbols from one or more languages, including day of week and month names and characters for different reasons considered to be risky, or problematic. You may generate the text in the strgen's text box and copy it to your application, or drop it directly to your application dragging the pointer tool. Strgen runs on only Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003.

The Microsoft AppLocale Utility
Need to run legacy (code-page based) applications on your Windows XP or Server 2003, but don't want to change the system locale? Microsoft AppLocale utility saves you a reboot...
