Re: File extensions in new file names
Actually, selecting the whole filename in the "Edit New File" dialog has the same effect as showing it without any filename at all. It doesn't matter what name appears pre-selected there if the first letter you type deletes it all anyway. When I need to replace the whole filename after hit...

New file (Shift + F4) name selection
I'd like to request an option to pre-select just the name, without the txt extension, when creating new files - following the new style of quick rename. Most times when creating a new file in Salamander, the desired extension is txt anyway. No reason to type it every time when creating a new text fi...

I second that. For me, filtering by directories is even more important than filtering filenames. And according to the newly introduced documentation, it should be possible. Quoting your help file: Limiting the Files and Directories to Display You can hide some files and directories in the panel. It ...

May I suggest another option: The list will only include the deepest path, but this path will have clickable parts. Using the same example, the list C:\Programme\Servant Salamander 2.0\plugins\checkver\ C:\Programme\ C:\Programme\Servant Salamander 2.0\ C:\Programme\Servant Salamander 2.0\plugins\ C...

Some tools, for example Araxis, allow to compare and merge three files at once. Sometimes it comes very handy, for example to compare three versions or merge changes from two versions to one. It's not critical though, we can always launch it with two files, then drag and drop the third file. After a...

Auto using saved credentials for FTP links
It is already possible to copy/paste ftp links, which is a great feature. Unfortunately, it only works properly with anonymous logon, which defeats the purpose of this feature for most ftp sites. Even if I'm already logged in to an FTP server, pasting a link to this server will bring the authenticat...

This is great news, thanks!!! A follow up question though: Will it be possible to pass more than two files to a merge tool? For example, by selecting 3 files in one panel and launching the tool? Or at least using just two files, but in the same panel, as we can today with the internal File Comparator?

Using external compare/merge tool
I would like to request two, somewhat related, features. 1. Would be nice to be able to specify an external comparator, the same way we can use external editor or viewer. File Comparator plugin is nice for quick comparation, but I frequently need to merge changes, not just display them. 2. Instead o...
