the current functionality is to try to load every single thumbnail in a folder to ram, which is very slow (and memory intensive) especially for folders that have multiple thousands of images. the issue does not happen with normal (lowercase) .jpg images, only with uppercase JPG, and I cannot seem to find a way to reload thumbnails after switching the extensions to lowercase (eventually just resorted to removing and putting them back)
